Details : Last Tuesday of each month the Classic Cycle Group join the Bexhill Wheelers for a Tuesday evening ride followed by a social gathering at The Sackville, De La Warr Parade to catch up on event planning and update of latest cycling news in Bexhill . A gentle evening ride (nobody will be left behind), or further for the speedies who wish to split and take an extra route to burn off energy and rejoin the rest of the group later. Meet time & place : 6.45pm Public Car Park, The De La Warr Pavillion, Bexhill. SATURDAY 02/06/12 RIDE UNVEILING PANELS ON BEXHILL SEAFRONT STATUS: GOING AHEAD
Details : Unveiling of 5 Motoring panels on Bexhill seafront to promote Bexhill on Sea as the Birthplace of British Motor Racing in 1902. We will be riding from site to site : 1) Bottom of Galley Hill: 2) Opposite Sackville: 3) Near To Bexhill Sailing Club: 4) Outside Bexhill Museum: and finally 5) outside Cooden Beach Hotel. Planned is a ceremony and The Jazz Caverners, and we will be escorted by The famous vintage trolley bus Happy Harold, an old coach, some Steam Cars, The Serpollet, Vintage motor cycles, some Horse and Traps, Theatrical costumed participants, etc. There is a call for classic bicycles and participants in vintage attire. Bring a picnic lunch for an ‘on-the-move’ snack. Complimentary fabulous Cooden Beach Hotel tea and cakes provided for participant classic cyclists in appropriate vintage attire! Meet time & place : 12pm finishing at The Cooden Beach Hotel for tea and cakes.

Details : A ride finishing at Galley Hill for the lighting of the Bexhill Beacon aprox. 10.15pm, followed by a spectacular firework display. All welcome. Candle lamps; oil lamps; fairy lights, unusual bicycle lighting systems all encouraged. SATURDAY 09/06/12 VINTAGE NATION at BRIGHTON RACECOURSE STATUS: GOING AHEAD
Details : Vintage Nation is celebrating all things Vintage, from music to fashion and culture. Music rooms span from the 1930s to the 1980s and the vintage marketplace will be selling items dating back to the 1920s. A great opportunity to pick up some vintage clothing and there will also be classic bicycle stalls next to the mid-century furniture stalls if you are looking to buy a classic bicycle. Vintage car display. Free ticket option for participants in return for dressing in finest and cycling through the site on vintage bikes. We will have a vintage picnic in Crabbie’s Garden or plenty of food available on site with a cool glass of Crabbie’s with a warm sandwich..) Details : Forget Speed - it’s all about Tweed! 2nd Sunday of each month we meet for a leisurely, short family ride around Bexhill finishing with a civilised afternoon tea at an appropriate tea room on the promenade to be decided at the start of the ride. An opportunity to dust down your bicycle, find something ‘tweedy’ to wear, (just a token item of tweed will do), and join us for some gentle exercise. Details : Forget Speed - it’s all about Tweed! This Tweed and Tea ride will be a bit different and will include a ride from Bexhill to Pevensey Castle and back. (Suitable for those in vintage clothing without bicycles who wish to join us later for the picnic only). SUNDAY 19/08/11 CUCKOO TRAIL RIDE, PICNIC & TEA ROOM EVENT STATUS: GOING AHEAD
Details : This is a safe, gentle traffic-free ride along the length of the Cuckoo Trail; ideal and safely traffic-free for all the family to enjoy. We stop for a picnic on the way at the picnic tables provided en route (bring own food, wine, etc). Later, we stop at the Loom Mill tea room & craft centre for a civilised tea on the way back. Children encouraged and welcome. Meet time & place : 10:50am : Polegate. Start of Cuckoo Trail where School Lane meets Oakleaf Drive (next to Polegate school) : (Map: click here): Polegate railway station is just a few minutes away for those bringing bikes by train. Also plenty of free street parking around area. 3pm The Loom Mill Tea Room BN27 2RH (Map: click here) Route / Distance : 9 miles easy, gentle incline Polegate to Horam and 9 miles back downhill. (Additional 2 1/2 mile section for the energetic Horam to Heathfield and 2 1/2 miles back to re-join the rest of the group). Bicycles : Class 1-5 (see table below). Details : We participate in the Bexhill 100 Classic & Custom Car Show where we will have our own gazebo stand this year within the secure ”Two Wheeled exhibits” section. (This event is also suitable for participants in period costume without bicycles). We will have an authentic Picnic at 12.30pm. Details : Forget Speed - it’s all about Tweed! 2nd Sunday of each month we meet for a leisurely, short family ride around Bexhill finishing with a civilised afternoon tea at an appropriate tea room on the promenade to be decided at the start of the ride. An opportunity to dust down your bicycle, find something ‘tweedy’ to wear, (just a token item of tweed will do), and join us for some gentle exercise. Meet time & place : 2.00pm Bexhill Railway Station, under the entrance canopy. TN40 1EB (Map : click here.) Tea aprox. 3.15pm Route / Distance : 2-3 miles, with an optional second ride after tea for the more energetic. (Nobody will be left behind). Bicycles : Class 1-5 (see chart below). Any bicycle acceptable but pre-1980 classics or retro bicycles appreciated if you happen to have one. The flying of Union Jack flags and the attaching of Classic Cycle posters to bicycles is definitely encouraged! - (Can be downloaded from here). Need ideas?
